Study and Assessment Mission in Egypt
Implementing its program to support of the democratic transition process in Egypt, Mrs. Amal Saleh, Secretary-General Office Manager traveled to Egypt on behalf of ADF on a study and assessment mission which lasted for one week. During this week, Mrs. Saleh held several meetings with various Egyptian activists from civil society organizations. Through these meetings, they were informed of the programs that ADF is seeking to implement in Egypt in response to the current needs of the Egyptian civil society, the organization of the parliamentary and presidential elections, and the consequent drafting of the constitution by a body chosen from the elected parliament.
It clear from the interactions with the Egyptian CSOs that there is a consensus on the need to better organize the enthusiastic youth forces which began experiencing major divisions. These forces will be assisted by providing them with the necessary institutional experience which will enable them to participate more actively in the democratic transition process and trigger dialogue among them focusing on youth, women, and marginalized people. This dialogue is also to include neglected regions and provinces with an emphasis on political awareness and the need to monitor elections in a qualitative manner while focusing on the factors which define the will of the Egyptian voter.
