Inauguration of "My Citizenship Duty is My Right" campaign in Saudi Arabia.
"My Citizenship Duty is My Right" campaign was inaugurated on 30 June 2010 in Saudi Arabia. The launching took place following the lecture on "Issues of Reform in the Gulf," organized by the Forum for Cultural Dialogue in al-Qatif, and given by Dr. Ahmed Abdul Malik, member of the Arab Coalition for Citizenship in the State of Qatar. It should be noted that Dr. Ahmed Abdul Malik is one of the most prominent intellectuals, journalists and writers in the Gulf, with several relevant publications.
The participants in the launching event discussed the importance and dimensions of the campaign, as well as and its future impact on the Arab region. The members of the Human Rights Activists’ Network (http://www.ractivists.net), the campaign local partner in Saudi Arabia, installed signature boards for the Saudi citizens who were to sign the petition.
Prior to the official launch, the campaign publications were distributed and circulated during cultural events and public forums throughout the country. Working teams in each region played a role in explaining the project within the frame of their cultural programs or weekly meetings. Some websites also adopted the idea and publicized for the campaign.
